In 2018, JB and Sara Rutherford purchased Randy’s Golf Carts in Giddings, Texas. They had a vision to build on the incredible reputation that Randy’s Golf Carts had already earned in the area. But to take the dealership to the next level, they decided they needed a rebrand. They wanted an iconic logo that would appeal to their target demo.
“Good bull” is a term that was coined at Texas A&M University that means “good news” or “good story.” Since the Rutherfords are a Texas A&M family, Good Bull Golf Carts was a natural choice for the new name of their golf cart dealership. JB emphasized the importance of not creating the logos with a Texas A&M slant or to have the horns on the bull look similar to the University of Texas logo.
The idea behind the design of the Good Bull icon was to create a logo that was simple, but bold. It needed to be able to stand alone, as well as being able to be easily printed, embroidered, or cut out on several custom items. The Yonky Slab family was chosen as the typeface due to the design of the font being modern, but yet timeless. The color palette was selected with a deep red and a flat navy blue giving a nod to the tried and true colors of the Texas state flag. The alternate logos were created with the idea they could be used along with the primary logos on Good Bull Golf Carts apparel and accessories such as hats, shirts, and stickers.
